Mahika Champions appoint new technical team
Mahikeng: Following a poor and disappointing start to their ABC Motsepe League campaign under the guidance of legendary Gideon Noge, the management of Mahika Champions FC took a firm resolution in making changes to their technical team. The management removed Gideon Noge and appointed a new head coach and two assistant coaches in a hope to turn the fortunes of the team around.
The management announced the appointment of John Monyai as the new head coach with effect from 01st December 2022. In an official statement on their facebook page, the Mahikeng based club pointed out that Munyai brings a vast experience of over 25 years. The statement reads that Coach Munyai takes credit for the promotion of Platinum City Rovers FC which campaigns in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and is a former head coach of ABC Motsepe League outfit Sivutsa Stars FC.
The Chairman, Thobile Msuthwana expressed his excitement with the appointment of Coach Munyai. “We had to go and look for a very experienced coach who has the understanding and shares the vision of the team. Coach John Munyai ticks all the boxes of such a person” explained Chairman Msuthwana. Coach Munyai has assured the management that he will work hard to change the fortunes of Mahika Champions. “Firstly, I must say, I am happy to be here. I am happy to have joined this team. It is unfortunate that the team has lost 3 league games. But I am here to work. I am optimistic that we will get things right” said Coach Munyai.
Coach John Munyai will be assisted by two co-assistant coaches, Tlouetsile Montsho and Tiger Thompson. Between them they have more than 40 years as coaches in various positions at different levels. Coach Montsho assisted TUT FC to win the Varsity Football Cup. He has also promoted a few teams in the Bojanala SAFA Regional League. Meanwhile Coach Thompson has international experience having coached in Botswana and Swaziland respectively. The team has also appointed Nicho Seoposengwe as the conditioning coach and physio. The new technical team made their debut against Manong FC at Montshioa Artificial Turf Stadium on the 16th December 2022, which they won by walkover.
